The Tiny Husky and Husky Therapy Program

We seek to lead a community effort to realize several key goals:

  1. Provide access to art and music training, workshops, classes, retreats, music recording sessions, live music venues to play music and musician mentorship.

  2. Provide access to trade-skills training and apprenticeships in Alleghany and Bath County to address veteran unemployment

  3. Build a veteran’s lodge and family cottages for wilderness retreats and adventures to foster a sense of camaraderie and community.

  4. Develop partnerships with local business to offer wellness and therapeutic activities for veteran’s with cancer or other long-term chronic illnesses and disabilities.

  5. Establish a community healing garden, orchard and farm-to-market food pantry for area veterans to address food insecurity.

Adventure therapy is a psychological intervention using outdoor activities to grow, develop, rehabilitate and enhance our wellbeing.

Our Organization

Find out about our mission, methods, and the results of our decades of advocacy.

Our mission is centered on this goal: Support members of the military, veterans and their families.

To fullfill that goal, we will provide respite at our wilderness lodge for disabled, chronically-ill veterans with access to therapeutic services to empower, educate and support their healing: mind, body and soul.

We will forge local partnerships and invest in our community with programs for veterans to address their critical needs, to help combat isolation and to help end veteran suicide.

Through all of our efforts, we are building resiliency and building a community for veterans by veterans.

Our vision: The Vision of Healing Waters Retreat is a world where all military members, veterans and their families have a senes of COMMUNITY, CAMARADERIE and COMMITMENT to one-another

Our values: Adventure-seeking, Faith, Hope, Kindness, Humility, Love, Creativity, Wisdom, Integrity, Respect, Compassion, Humor, Patience, Resilience, Strength & Self-Reliance
